Do you have hard water? Knowing whether your wash water is soft, normal or hard determines how you launder and what products you need to use—in addition to your detergent. By testing your water with our Test Strips, you’ll know if your laundry routine requires Hard Water Helper.

Hard water can make for less-than-ideal laundry outcomes. We’re talking stains, smells, holes, relaxed elastics, and loss of waterproofing on performance fabrics. If your water has a high mineral content, treating it is crucial to protect your garments and ensure your detergent can do its job properly. This is especially important when laundering cloth diapers, which are heavily soiled and washed frequently.

Sold as a pack of 4 individually sealed strips, a “ppm” determining color card, and detailed instructions outlining what to do once your water hardness is determined.

  • Fill a clean cup with water from the faucet nearest your washing machine.
  • Tear open one strip pack and dip the strip in the cup for 3 seconds. Do not swirl the strip around. Simply dip and count.
  • Remove the strip and hold it up to the included color chart to determine the ppm of your water.
  • See the back of the color chart for steps to take based on your water hardness level.

For water hardness over 90ppm, we recommend adding Hard Water Helper to every wash cycle.
